1300E by the Sea
Just before my laptop spontaneously combusted a couple of weeks ago, I shot my father’s Escort 1300 Executive. The shoot took place on a chilly winters morning by the seaside. It was a back to basics shoot for me; no lights, rig or tracking shots. Just the 5D2 and two lenses. More after the jump …
Back Online …
After a brief disagreement with some technology, I’m back in business again. Have a few new things to show you over the Christmas holidays, including the acquisition of a new camera to the family. That isn’t a Canon. Also will be showing this full shoot of my father’s Escort 1300 Executive and will be writing up a Prodrift 2009 season review for the guys on Speedhunters. Take care and drive safely !
5D MKII Video Test
[vimeo width=”800″ height=”450″]http://www.vimeo.com/7708565[/vimeo] Just quickly cut together the first video I’ve shot using the 5D MKII. Really impressed with the quality and the ease of use. Coming from a photography background it’s great to be able to just jump in and make moving picture with the same tools used for the still ones. No trying to figure out button combinations or exploring a new medium to get the desired effect. The test was more so aimed at seeing how my poor little Macbook Pro would handle the files and to be fair, for a two year old laptop it put on a proud show. The original 1080P files were imported into Adobe Premier CS4, quickly cut together and outputted at 720P for use on Vimeo. There is some minor colour grading using the 5D MKII’s built in picture styles. Lense used was a Canon 70-200 f2.8 L IS. Now to pick up a mic and start working on some new plans … View the HD version on Vimeo

Mark & Margaret O’Leary
Meant to post these a while ago but have been quite busy. Plus the new site layout lends itself a lot better to larger images. Just like to wish Mark, Margaret & their son Séan all the best in the future. More images after the jump …
Branding: A New Road Safety Authority ?
For our final year project, we were given an open brief to tackle. We needed to create a client, a multi-discipline project and include a certain amount of social responsibility. It was the obvious choice for me to go with a motoring based project, but rather than create a new tuning company, I chose to do a re-brand of the Road Safety Authority. More after the jump …
New Look …
Hope you all like the new look, you’ll have to bear with me over the next little while as I iron out any bugs that may pop up. I’ve retained all the content from the previous version along with a cleaner look, the ability to post larger images and also using the new PMCG logo. Will start getting everything ship shape early this week !
The Second Crossing …
Rather unusual for me, but this evening I went out, stopped down the aperture and tried my hand at some landscape photography. The focus of my attentions was on the new bridge (unnamed as far as I’m aware) that crosses the river suir, just west of the city. At over 460 metres long, it’s currently the longest bridge in the state. More images after the jump …
Modified Motors Live 2009
Sunday just gone was the last major event of the year for us, the show being Modified Motors Live at Punchestown Racecourse. The event also featured what was billed as the Prodrift ‘Battle of Nations’ but it was clear from the start of the day that the event was only to be a trial day for a new battle system Prodrift wanted to have in place for 2010. More after the jump …
October Update …
Just received the latest issue of top Aussie magazine, Autosalon, in the post. They’ve just ran a feature I shot last year on the WKD / Koguchi Power Falken Chaser. The feature ran to seven pages with a great write up from Dan Goodyer. More images & news after the jump …
Jay Barden R.I.P.
A good friend to a lot of Waterford people (and I’m sure to even more outside of here) passed away Tuesday morning. I was lucky enough to work with Jay a couple of times, he was a proper character, always smiling and always up for the craic. A very, very talented musician who was never afraid to rock the boat, he is a huge loss to the music scene. My deepest sympathies to his friends and family. Like a lot of people Jay, I’ll miss you. R.I.P.
Karnage to take on Formula D
It was announced this week that the PMCGPHOTOs backed driver, Dean ‘Karnage’ Kearney will be competing at the final round of the 2009 Formula Drift season at the ‘House of Drift’ in Irwindale, CA. Dean is about to live out a life long dream thanks to Intec Racing in Washington, whom are supplying him with the ex-Falken S14 of Matsuri Hariguchi. Best of luck out there Dean, do us all proud !

BMW E46 M3 CSL
Sorry about the delay in getting this post together, has been busy here the last while at PMCG Studios. Earlier this month, Junior from Irish motoring site Driver.ie approached me about shooting a rare E46 CSL that was located down the country. With an upcoming BMW theme on Speedhunters, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse. More after the jump …
New content this week …
Will have new content this week folks, including a rather special BMW … Check back !
Test Shoot – James Deane’s SR-X7
Just finished a quick edit on James Deane’s SR20 powered FD RX7 that I’d like to share. We were a bit stuck for time so we only had time to fire off a few test shots, but have no fear as a full shoot is on the cards. I cannot wait to get this car back in front of the lense …
Behind the Visor
Back in April, I was lucky enough to have time to shoot some portraits of some of the drivers and staff of the Prodrift Super Series. When the majority of your work is based around the machine and not the man, it can be refreshing change of pace to shoot the men (and indeed women) behind the visors. The idea behind these portraits was to portray the people behind the cars, to show the real person and not just the name you may recognize from the commentary. More after the jump …
Prodrift Monster Academy Cars
Just finished a series of six images to promote the Prodrift Academy, a school where anyone over the age of 13 can learn how to drift in a safe environment with the instructions of top level driver. For 2009, the two academy cars have received a revamp in matching Monster Energy Drink colours. More shots and some originals after the jump …
Before the drift, there was grip …
Between the drift action on Sunday, Mondello Park organised a ‘Track Versus Time Attack’ time attack to see which class would set the fastest time around Mondello’s national loop. Brendan Stone in the Trackday Performance Evo VI set fastest time of the day at 59.3 seconds, but the pace of the cars was astounding. Was interesting shooting grip as 90% of the track action I shoot is drift. I found that getting nice, clean sharp images is much easier compared to drifting as the cars move in a more predictable manner. I will definitely try get out for another round before the year is out ! More photos of the other competitors after the jump …
Car Feature >> Alan Sinnotts WKD Imports SR-86
Originally seen on Speedhunters.com When Rod asked the staff to come up with an ’86 related feature for 86 Day, I admit I did have to spend some time considering what to shoot. Ireland has quite an illustrious past with the wee hachi-roku, most commonly refered to as a ‘twin-cam’ or ‘cam’ in these parts. My first plan was to roll back the years on some of the most famous ’86s that have emerged from this small island. DMac’s infamous Falken car and Eric O’Sullivans F20C Rockstar car would obviously be the most recognisable but there have been some other gems that you may never heard of. This car above is one of them.
More Speedhunters Coverage ..
Just published the coverage of the third round of the Irish series on Speedhunters. Check out the article HERE !
Prodrift Ireland Round 3 Coverage Coming Soon …
Just uploading the shots from yesterday’s event to my flickr, full gallery and walkthrough coming soon !
Karnage Maxxis Onevia
This week gone, I got the pleasure of tackling Dean ‘Karnages’ Kearney Maxxis endorsed Nissan Onevia. The shoot turned into an eventful one, first it rained and then rained some more. It was also the first time I got to grips with my new rig, albeit in its shortest configuration as the rest hadn’t been completed in time by my fabricator. The best of the shoot after the jump …
The Story of the Works Fords …
Just put together a story for Speedhunters on the evolution of the works Fords from 2WD to 4WD, from 1968 to present day. Check out the full story here …
