<p>Earlier last month I was tasked with creating the accompanying images for a story of a day in the life of one David Brabham. The Brabham family name is synonymous in motorsport with success and David&#8217;s illustrious career has ensured that association won&#8217;t be changing any time soon. A racing career spanning nearly thirty years with multiple wins in a variety of classes at Le Mans and a host of other successes across a variety of championships including F1, JGTC and ALMS to name but a few. David would be one of those who you would forgive for having any airs or graces about him but the man behind the visor is as welcoming and as nice as anyone you could ever meet. A true gentleman of motorsport. More images after the jump &#8230;</p>

<p>Back in April, I was lucky enough to have time to shoot some portraits of some of the drivers and staff of the Prodrift Super Series. When the majority of your work is based around the machine and not the man, it can be refreshing change of pace to shoot the men (and indeed women) behind the visors. The idea behind these portraits was to portray the people behind the cars, to show the real person and not just the name you may recognize from the commentary.</p>
<p>More after the jump &#8230;</p>
<p><span id="more-227"></span></p>
<p>The above shot of Shane Lynch (Team Japspeed Stobart Maxxis), was shot with a Canon EOS 40D with a 24-105 F4 L lense. The shoot took place in a music festival tent at Donington Park in the UK. Using two flashes, one high camera left and another low camera right, both fired through white umbrellas.<br />

<p>New issue of Modified Motors was released today featuring I shoot I did with Georgie &amp; Elaine from Prodrift. Check out the magazine for the full write up. More images and a walkthorugh of the setup after the jump.<br />
<br /></br><br />
<span id="more-169"></span></p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Ladies of Prodrift" href="http://www.pmcgphotos.com/flickr/photo/3704269298/ladies-of-prodrift.html"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3449/3704269298_fb05f2677a.jpg" alt="Ladies of Prodrift" width="333" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>These two (above &amp; below) were shot on the 70-200 2.8 L, wide open at f2.8.<br />
<br /></br><br />
<a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Ladies of Prodrift" href="http://www.pmcgphotos.com/flickr/photo/3703460339/ladies-of-prodrift.html"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2447/3703460339_8ef1907eca.jpg" alt="Ladies of Prodrift" width="333" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>The 1D MKII N gives a finer grain than the 40D which I think adds to the B&amp;W image.<br />
<br /></br><br />
<a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Ladies of Prodrift" href="http://www.pmcgphotos.com/flickr/photo/3704268774/ladies-of-prodrift.html"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2339/3704268774_03b55c5736.jpg" alt="Ladies of Prodrift" width="333" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>Unforuntately the noise can be a bit too much as seen in the shot here in the background.<br />
<br /></br><br />
<a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Ladies of Prodrift" href="http://www.pmcgphotos.com/flickr/photo/3703460031/ladies-of-prodrift.html"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3469/3703460031_6a64ac554f.jpg" alt="Ladies of Prodrift" width="333" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>This shot of Elaine had a 580EX II camera left into a bounce umbrella at 1/2 power and a SB800 camera right into another bounce at a 1/4 power.<br />
<br /></br><br />
<a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Ladies of Prodrift" href="http://www.pmcgphotos.com/flickr/photo/3704268438/ladies-of-prodrift.html"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3511/3704268438_df1883bfbc.jpg" alt="Ladies of Prodrift" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>This one had just the 580EX II camera left into the bounce brollie, I can&#8217;t remember the power setting but it would of been around 1/2 or 1/4 power.<br />
<br /></br><br />
<a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Ladies of Prodrift" href="http://www.pmcgphotos.com/flickr/photo/3704268226/ladies-of-prodrift.html"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2583/3704268226_a1171fa49d.jpg" alt="Ladies of Prodrift" width="333" height="500" /></a></p>
<p>For this shot (and the opening shot in this post) I fired the SB800 bare at the car and the 580EX bare from camera left at the girls. Could do with adding another strobe or two but I need to pick up some reliable triggers first.</p>
<p>Hope you enjoyed !</p>

The images are to be used as promotional material for their new album This City Street, due to be released this Autumn. More after the jump &#8230;</p>
