Last Saturday I had a rare day off which kind of turned into ‘not-really-a-day-off’ but an enjoyable one none the less. The occasion was the first shakedown of the Wexican Motorsport Toyota Altezza and I was on-hand to document the event. It was a pretty chilled affair and was the perfect opportunity to test out some new equipment namely the Canon 17-40 F4 L, Canon 135 F2 L and the Canon 1.4x extender on the Canon 300 F4 L. It’s also been a while since I got to shoot some live track action so it’s great to be getting back into the motorsport season once again. I spent most of yesterday working on a personal project of mine with Martin Ffrench. I had the honor of shooting the exclusive of his SR20DET Toyota Altezza back in November and even luckier to have the chance to ride along side him during the practice sessions. These are only two short laps from the morning whilst Martin was still working on setups and ironing out any small problems. I’ll have a better video and some photographs up later this week.

After a lengthy delay, the Wexican Motorsport Nissan powered Toyota Altezza has finally been completed. I was quite fortunate to shoot the world exclusive feature on the car for Speedhunters. We got really lucky with the shoot, the location played out well, no distractions and although the light was a bit of a pain, it actually worked in our favour. PMCGPHOTOS.com is proud to unveil the 2009 Wexican Motorsport SX-20, a two-litre, turbocharged, Nissan powered, Toyota Altezza for road and promotional purposes. PMCGPHOTOS.com has worked very closely with Wexican Motorsport to design a custom livery to help show off this astounding custom built car.

The car is powered by a Nissan SR-20 DET engine, outputting 400 horsepower. The widearch kit was custom designed and built by Wexican Motorsport to house the traditional WM baby-blue 18″ Work wheels. The rear of the car is framed with an Origin Europe GT Wing and Wexican Motorsport undercar diffuser with a full underbody tray.

The car boasts a full interior, including a CD-player and air conditioning. To protect the driver and passengers during demonstration runs and trackdays, the car has been fitted out with a full roll cage and Takata green harnesses.

Martin Ffrench, owner of Wexican Motorsport said that he ‘is delighted with how the car has turned out. We have created a vehicle that looks as good as it goes. It’s awesome’

The car is part of a three car team. This the SX-20 has been built for road and light track use, whilst the eagerly anticipated SX-22 track car is about to under-go a full Kevlar rebuild courtesy of Carbon Fusion, with a target weight of sub-900kg and 450 horsepower. The SX-22 will make its debut in late 2009.
