Team Need for Speed D-Mac ’86
You may remember late last year that I published a feature both here and on Speedhunters of Darren McNamara’s wild rotary powered AE86 build. I never got around to posting these images of the car during it’s first test day and first two events. Considering it was a completely fresh build, the success it has enjoyed at its first two events is astounding. Rarely do cars work so well out of the box. It’s a credit to Darren and the team at MCN Sport.
Rotorstock VII
A slightly faster update this time ! This was my first ever trip to Santa Pod, a venue I’ve been wanting to visit for quite some time. The event was Rotorstock, a gathering of the UK’s finest rotary powered Mazdas. The event was also host to the fourth round of the 2010 HKS Drag Series. Shooting drag racing for the very first time was an eye opener. Coming from the never pointing in the right direction style of drifting, shooting cars traveling in straight lines was a welcome challenge. When I say that, I don’t mean it in a derogatory way, I’ve genuinely come to appreciate the challenge of creating a perfect run over a quarter mile. It ain’t as easy as it looks. More after the jump …
